Monkey Pox

The first reported case of Monkey Pox in Kentucky occurred on June 24, 2022, in a Jefferson County resident. As of Aug 23, 2022, there have been 22 confirmed cases of Monkeypox in Kentucky.

HOW DO YOU GET MONKEY POX?
Close physical contact with a person with symptoms like skin-to-skin, face-to-face, kissing and sex or touching bedding, clothing, towels, or other objects that touched the infected person’s skin or body fluids. Anyone can get Monkey Pox it is not confined to any particular community or group of people.

HOW CAN YOU PROTECT YOURSELF FROM MONKEYPOX? Avoid physical and intimate contact with anyone who has symptoms, talk openly with partners about symptoms prior to intimate contact and clean hands, objects surfaces and bedding if you encounter someone with symptoms.

 

If someone contacts with symptoms, refer them to their primary healthcare provider or the closest Emergency Room. Advise them to call the provider and ER prior to entering the facility.
