Race/Ethnicity/Gender

There is a significant difference in the unemployment rates between those who identify as white and those who identify as other race/ethnicity groups in Carroll County. According to the 2020 ACS 5-year estimates, those who identify as Black or African American are 12 times more likely to be unemployed than those who identify as “White Alone”8.

 

Followed closely are those who identify as mixed race, or having two or more races, at 10.8 times higher likelihood to be unemployed8. Additionally, those who identify as some other races are 6.5 times more likely, and those who identify as Hispanic, regardless of race, are 5.7 times more likely to be unemployed than those who identify as white alone8.

In Carroll County, males are 1.6 times more likely to be unemployed than females, representing 64% of the unemployed workforce8.
